Junior Perez Diaz, 46, of 2200 Morris Avenue, was taken into custody on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 5:17 p.m. in the 46th Precinct, authorities said. He faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and first-degree kidnapping, the NYPD said.
The victim was identified by abc7 as Pamela Alcantara, whose family had raised more than $10,000 on a GoFundMe as of press time.
The case unfolded on Thursday, March 6, at 9:51 a.m., when officers launched an investigation into a missing woman from 2200 Morris Avenue in the Bronx, police said. During their search, investigators found the woman unconscious and unresponsive near the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, according to the NYPD.
EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead, police said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Perez Diaz was arrested the following day as the investigation continued, authorities said.
